Sara Milonovich
|
Alt-country singer/songwriter/fiddler Sara Milonovich grew up on a working farm in rural New York, and was leading her own band by age 9 (around the time she learned to drive a tractor.) First learning fiddle music passed down from the elder statesmen of the traditions in the granges and dance halls of the North Country, she then hit the road at 16 with bluegrass band The McKrells, and a diverse trajectory has since led her through a busy career performing and recording throughout North & South America, Europe, and beyond, as a collaborator and accompanist with such artists as Richard Shindell, Pete Seeger (including on his Grammy-winning At 89 album), and many others. She also currently appears as a featured violinist in the Broadway musical, “Come From Away”.
With her band Daisycutter, her latest album Northeast offers an ode to the blue-collar north, exploring down-and-out cities, abandoned farms, heartbreak, resilience, and hope - all things the Northeast shares with the rest of blue collar America (except that it also happens to be a bit colder…) Produced by Greg Anderson, and recorded by multiple Grammy-winner Justin Guip, it also features such guests as legendary pedal steel player Lloyd Maines and singer Leigh Gibson (of the Gibson Brothers), among others.
Sara will be joined on guitar by her longtime producer Greg Anderson, who has worked with a wide variety of artists in an even wider variety of musical genres, including Eileen Ivers, Cathie Ryan, Richard Shindell, Jack Hardy, Doctor Nerve, and The Klezmatics.
