MEET THE SINGERS/MUSICIANS

Rachel Garlin

Singer and songwriter:
Rachel Garlin has been making music professionally for more than twenty years. She’s toured internationally, earned songwriting honors, and has released eight studio albums. “The Ballad of Madelyne and Therese,” her ninth and most ambitious yet, drops in June, 2023 –– a character-driven song cycle built around two women having a love affair in 1940s New York City.

Garlin’s music and songwriting:
has been hailed by critics, garnering praise from the San Francisco Chronicle, Americana Highways, and Country Queer. She’s also been embraced by radio, where she has received airplay on tastemaker shows like Folk Alley, Folk Music Notebook, and SiriusXM’s The Village.

As a touring headliner:
she has appeared on major stages at the Newport Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass, Kerrville, and Edinburgh Fringe. Her first post-COVID tour includes stops in Boston, New York, Philly, and Asbury Park, NJ.

Garlin has been called:
“a troubadour in motion.” In addition to her musical activities, she is also a certified educator, a community activist, and a songwriting mentor at San Francisco’s Sunset Youth Services.
She is a Harvard graduate, and lives in San Francisco with her wife and three kids.
